Learn ‘en plein air’ techniques and enjoy the magic of soft pastels

Join Louise at her studio in the historic old Settler’s Cottage. Learn ‘en plein air’ (outside painting skills) and appreciate the magic and beauty of using soft pastels to capture the charm and character of this picturesque place, fringing the Herdsman Lake area.

If you want to immerse yourself in nature and art, this ‘en plein air’ outdoor session is perfect for you. You don’t need to have ever held a pastels before. All you need is a willingness to learn and express yourself! Soft pastels on artist quality pastel paper is used in this session and a frame provided for your finished work.

Settler’s Cottage is located at 180 Pearson Street Churchlands.

What we provide

$185 per person includes:

  • Guided step-by-step instruction and expert tuition from Louise will help you master this medium.

  • Use of all materials and equipment including easel, artist quality pastels, pastel paper, pastel accessories, rags , apron and frame.

  • Delicious morning tea. (BYO lunch).

  • The framed masterpiece you create is yours to take home!

What to bring

  • Sunscreen and hat

  • Water bottle

  • Lunch.

What to wear

  • An apron is provided but wear clothes that you don’t mind getting pastels on.  Pastels can be dusty and dirty!

  • Weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.

Appropriate for

  • All levels - no experience is necessary.

  • Adults (children 12 and over allowed with an accompanying adult).
