Settlers Series - Colour Theory Boot Camp with Louise Collier

Master the art of colour!

By popular demand, Colour Theory Boot Camp is here! If you find it challenging to mix the colours you envision or struggle to choose a colour palette, this workshop is perfect for you. You'll deepen your understanding of colour theory to elevate your painting skills, exploring tint, tone, shade, hue, saturation, luminance, and more. Discover effective colour combinations, schemes, and the difference between warm and cool colours, making your artistic journey more enjoyable and confident. All art materials are included, so you can focus on mastering the art of colour!

This workshop is suitable for all levels. No experience is necessary. Children 12 and over allowed with an accompanying adult).

Historic Settlers Cottage is located at 180 Pearson Street, Churchlands, is owned by the National Trust and currently used as Art Studios. The setting is idyllic, nestled close to the Herdsman Lake, surrounded by trees and wildlife. The venue for our workshops is in the adjacent Shelter area (outdoor undercover with weather protection) and on the shady verandahs of the cottage.

What we provide

$185 per person includes:

  • Guided step-by-step instruction and expert tuition from Louise will help you master colour theory.

  • Hands on practical skill building sessions including a colour mixing challenge.

  • All art materials included - we will be working with acrylics although colour theory applies across all mediums.

  • Delicious morning tea. (BYO lunch).

  • Glass of wine or bubbles and nibbles afterwards to celebrate your new found knowledge.

  • You will have a couple of ‘experimental’ canvas sheets/canvases to take home!

What to bring

  • Water bottle.

  • Lunch.

What to wear

  • An apron is provided but wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on.  Although acrylic paints are water based, some pigments can be difficult to remove.

Appropriate for

  • All levels - no experience is necessary.

  • Adults (children 12 and over allowed with an accompanying adult).
