Extras Items to consider from Leon Holmes
Leon Holmes has a number of very handy extra items that you may like to consider purchasing directly from his website to complete your en plein air set-up. These include his super useful and convenient SWAG APRON and ROLLA-UPPER. Please click through to Leon Holmes website
EQUIPMENT & MATERIALS
Note - as you cannot bring flammable solvents or thinners on the plane, Leon will be demonstrating his solvent free technique. You are required to leave from the International airport (for the Sydney to Norfolk Island flight) and as such will go through passport control and customs (all your art supplies should be packed in your checked in luggage). Michael Harding supply a letter for customs, see here https://www.michaelharding.co.uk/project/flying-with-your-mh-paints/ - we recommend you print this out and attach it to your materials in your suitcase. When referring to them, do not use the word ‘paint’, always refer to them as ‘OIL COLOURS' (they are pignment suspended in vegetable oil, ie linseed oil), or find the Safety Data Sheets (usually available online) for the brand you have if bringing your own.
EQUIPMENT:
Note - Art Outdoors have basic portable easels and fold up tables at Norfolk Island, available for your use free of charge (see photo below). However, for a more comfortable experience, treat yourself to a fantastic light weight travel easel (pochade box and tripod) that you will use for years to come. We highly recommend Leon’s outdoor painting box and tripod set up. For more details, see here Leon Holmes Super Light Weight Pochade Boxes. Norfolk Island Travel Centre has basic foldable small (low) stools available for your use.
