We are excited to announce a new range of classes for 2022. As well as our signature ‘en plein air’ sessions, we now also offer a diverse range of other classes and workshops at Settlers Art Studios in Churchlands - still an outdoor venue as this classes and workshops are held in the undercover area facing Settlers Cottage, surrounded by nature, with weather protective side walls if needed).

What is ‘en plein air’?
‘en plein air’ is a French expression for ‘in the open air’. Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of the studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was made into an art form by the French Impressionists.

Never painted before?
You don’t need to have any drawing experience or even held a paintbrush before. All you need is a willingness to learn and express yourself. Our classes are perfect for beginners as well as more advanced artists. Everything you need is supplied from the beautiful locations to the well-equipped and cute ‘en plein air’ french style paint box easels.
